Photo story...

I got given a 'photo story' project at the begining of the week were we had to take images to represent our college in our prospectus and in our advertisments due to their poor attempts;), we also had to research relevent artists and other colleges, but im finding it really difficult to finish the project.
It was a bit of a shock to recieve the challenge of a one week project right at the begning of the year and i just feel my work isnt as great as it could be or should be but im sure ill find time to improve it during the year if needs be.
Any way here are some of my images for the project

Ill add better ones later, left my others on the college computure :s

fingers crossed

Mark Powers Exhibition

Did someone say GALLERY?!

Today i went on a trip with college to see the Mark Powers gallery in Walsall, Birmingham, I admit I normally find gallaries boring but today I was really inspired by the work I saw.
Mark Powers aimed to capture his perception of beauty in the mundane, his subjects included men's private club's and beauty salons (both industries that are thriving regardless of the recession) he also photographed peoples feet and I loved the vividness of the colours and the narrow depth of field he managed create.

"Moma always said you could tell a lot about a person by their SHOES, Where they go, where they've been"

Forrest Gump is one of my favourite movies and this quote I feel really fits well with the images because its true they do, from scuff marks, style and age, from heels to trainers or sandals I feel Power's really captured the beauty of the black country through these people's feet, I also feel there is more of a truth to photographing thing's besides people's faces as people learn to build a wall to cover true emotions that can be masked with a smile for example, however things like feet and hands cannot be.
Hands... that would be an interesting thing to photograph.

<--- Beth! (thank you for being my model ;))

Ciao For now

My college have asked me to create a blog for my work so this is basically for my thoughts on projects, images and the artists that inspire me and my own images i may also post random babble from time and for that i am sorry.
I am also new to blogging so i not promising anything amazing but i can only give it a go ;)
i hope that if you happen to read my blog that you enjoy it and i will try and post as frequently as possible or when i am feeling so inspired i have to share my thoughts with the world to spare myself from spontaneous combustion, this may happen quite often.

So please enjoy :)
